A Famous Fashion Designer Wins Award

A fashion designer from China has won the International Wool Awards. Qiu Hao from China will join in the ranks of these great fashion designers that already won these prestigious awards; they are Yves Saint Laurent, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani and Romeo Gigli. This year Armani is slated in the Woolmark hall of fame for this year.
The goal of this prestigious award is to emphasize the importance of Merino wool in the fashion industry by honouring and showcasing emerging talents with the cutting edge creativity that shows the sensual and beautiful aspects of knit to the fashion world. Today the Woolmark Prize gives the mark of distinction where the original wool awards left off. Still upholding the original foundations on which the award giving body was founded on: such as distinction, excellence and innovation that transcends the boundaries of design. The original wool awards were held in the year of 1954 – 1992 by the International Wool Secretariat (IWS).
Qiu Hao, a 30 year old designer from Shanghai China has first graduated as an interior designer at the Suzhou University in Shanghai. Then he attended the Central Saint Martins College in London to study fashion. His debut in 2006 as a fashion designer in the fashion industry Qiu Hao has consistently made cutting edge tailoring showing his passion and smooth deconstruction in a monochromatic colour palette. His collection emphasizes on curves, texture, softness and fit that greatly defines the sensuality of wool knits.
As the grand prize winner of the 2008 Wool Prize Qiu Hao will receive support amounting to 100,000 euros an invaluable resource for an upcoming designer, AWI will provide assistance and expertise in sourcing out the best materials for his production of knit pieces, promotion and presentation of his collection. These recent current events have given her so much to be proud of. And because of this Qiu Hao’s collection will be seen in high end fashion boutiques in Paris, Collette’s have agreed to carry an exclusive line of limited edition stock of his collection.
